Submit your nominations for the Cycling BC 2015 Awards

The Cycling BC 2015 Awards Ceremony will take place on October 3 in Burnaby, and recognize the outstanding athletes, coaches, clubs, race officials and more that have been nominated and voted for by you!

The Glotman•Simpson Cycling club has seen significant achievements this season, not only with the women's and men's race teams, but within skills development, coaching and support for club members, and community involvement. We hope you can take two minutes to complete this year's nomination form. And maybe jot down Glotman•Simpson Cycling as Club of the Year for good measure if you're so inclined!

Call for Committee Members
Cycling BC's directors are looking for interested committee members, which will aid in shaping our sport, while providing an open forum for organizational transparency and positive member engagement. Committees are a chance to engage with Cycling BC to continuously work for members, providing the levels of service you desire and require – something that can only be done with your help and support. Read more on how you can get involved.

Cyclocross season opener and GSX upcoming races

The waiting was over, and the time had come to test the legs kicking off the 2015 VCXC season with a bang at the Fort Langley Classic at Aldor Acres Farm on September 5th. After a long, dry summer, the CX weather gods had spoken bringing with them a deluge of rain softening the soil and putting smiles on cyclocross racers across the Pacific Northwest. Sporting the new #FearTheFloral kits, the GS Cycling cyclocross crew (GSX) were out in full force. Check the results and the photo gallery from the race.

Mark these dates in your calendar!
The next two VCXC races will be hosted by GSX and promise to be two of the highlights on this season's calendar. Central City Brewing will be in attendance for both events serving up some of their classic Red Racer Copper Ale and Red Racer ISA. You can also expect some good tunes, food and (hopefully) a lot of mud slinging on course. So if you have ever asked yourself "What is Cylcoross?" now is the time to come and find out.

Group rides move to winter schedule starting October 1

While we cringe at the thought of cloudy skies and rain drops, the fender season is quickly approaching. Effective Saturday, October 3, club rides move to the winter riding schedule.

  • Winter group ride time is 9 AM, and will follow the Richmond route.
  • During the winter there are no scheduled ride leaders.
  • Rides should be no-drop and full length fenders are mandatory. Rides meet at the upper parking level above No Frills and Cuppa Joy Coffee House on West 4th Ave at Alma St.
