Giving people hope. Why we ride the Cypress Challenge.

We're making a difference

On August 16, ten-year-old Ella and eight-year-old Noah Latoski will ride up Cypress Mountain in honour of their father, Darren, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2013. The two small riders will be participating in the Glotman Simpson Cypress Challenge along with their mother, Cyndi, to raise awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research in Darren’s memory.

“We have chosen to use the Cypress Challenge as recognition of Darren’s battle with cancer, his tenacity, and as a way of hope,” Cyndi said. “I think he would be really proud.” With their sister Kate cheering them on, Ella and Noah will be taking on the 5km First Peak Challenge, while Cyndi tackles the 12km Full Peak Challenge. Together as “Team Dad”, they’ve set their goal to be the top fundraising team this year. Visit the Latoskis’ fundraising page to show your support.

Over the last seven years, the Cypress Challenge has raised more than $1.2 million, adding strong momentum to transforming the pancreatic cancer landscape in our province. Join Ella, Noah and Cyndi and take the Challenge!
