In an ongoing effort to provide support to our club members involved in racing at all levels we have a dedicated group of Race Ambassadors representing each of the racing categories for 2012. The Race Ambassadors will be communicating directly with all racers in the given category and organizing team training sessions. For those interested in racing sanctioned events as a team the Race Ambassadors will be setting up pre race meetings for all interested riders.

Below are the contacts for all of the Race Ambassadors for 2012. Be sure to email the Race Ambassador for your given category so that you can be added to the racing email list. Include a short introduction and your racing goals for the season!

Club Racing Director (CRD) – Bart Ludbrook

Bart has raced with GSC for the past few years, and is on the board of directors for the club. For 2012 he will be overseeing the Race Ambassador program, with the aim of supporting the active racers in the club. Originally from New Zealand, you can listen out for the accent on the group rides. For any general inquires regarding Club Racing Bart can be contacted at: bartludbrook@gmail.com

Masters' Program Development Overlord (MPDO) – Allan Prazsky

How did you get involved in the club?

As one of the founding members of Glotman Simpson, I was recruited to GS from Trek-Red Truck by several close friends. Great to see the growth, from an initial group of 5 racers, to close to 200 club members in 6 (?) years, GS is quickly becoming the 'be all' Club to cyclists regardless of ability.

How about a personal detail?

Aside from being a phenomenal lover, my other passions include cooking and tinkering with mechanics.

What your goal is for 2012?

Expecting a little boy in early March, my goal for 2012 is to limit my fitness losses, and to contribute to the Masters racing program wherever I can, understanding that my role as 'Dad' will be a paradigm shift in training and racing. Having said that, with two decades of racing under my belt, including stints on National Team projects and racing in Europe, I think I have lots to contribute to the development of the Masters Squad, and for those looking to nudge their fitness in time for the racing season.

Any Masters Racers are asked to contact: allan.prazsky@gmail.com

Cat 3 Race Ambassador – Chad Eberly

Chad is a Cat 3 Racer and a long-time GS member. He was introduced to road riding, racing, and cycling teamwork through his many friends at GS. He will mix it up on rides and races but prefers to see a pack sprint over a large hill. His goal for 2012 is to help create a solid Cat3 GS race team that can ride as a unit (and win) in crits and longer road races. Chad will also do his best to make sure all other GS Cat3s are achieving their goals along the way by sacrificing his legs but he is also aiming to take first place overall in the Westside Classic in his division. Don't get fooled into thinking he does 'secret training' for his legs; his spin class schedule for his gym, Rep1 Fitness, can be found online. For Cat 3 Racers Chad can be reached at: Chad@rep1.ca

Cat 4 Race Ambassador - Shigeo Tamagi

Shig is film and commercial producer who put together the Cypress Challenge video last summer for GS. He will be leading some rides during the summer so look for a black and white BMC. This season he hopes to actually do some races and fit training into his work schedule. Cat 4 Racers please contact Shig at: millcreek2@gmail.com

Women's Ambassador – Morgan Cabot

Morgan has been a member of the Glotman Simpson Cycling Club since 2010, and will be a Cat 2 member of the race team for 2012. A UBC Mathematics graduate, she also enjoys coffee, red wine and bright sunglasses. Her goal for 2012 is to see as much support and success as possible for the female racers within the club. If you have any questions or concerns regarding women's racing, or are simply joining the group rides as a novice rider and have some questions, you can contact her at morgan.cabot@gmail.com
