Catch in on two amazing rides heading out to the Sunshine Coast and Mt. Baker!

POSTPONEMENT - Due to current spell of rain the June 4th ride to the Sunshine Coast has been postponed to June 18th

Michael Daerendinger has kindly offered up two potential rides for members who can comfortably ride over 100 km in a day. The rides are along the Sunshine Coast (June 4) and Mt. Baker (July 2). More details follow below.

 

1) Friday June 4 Friday June 18 - Annual Sunshine Coast Ride

  • Leave on the 7.20am ferry to Langdale,
  • Ride to Madeira Park (Pender Harbour) have lunch (there is an IGA) and ride back
  • Route is the main highway, which can be hilly at times. Great scenery
  • Usually able to make the 2:30 PM return ferry
  • Approximate ride distance is 120km

 


2) Friday July 2 - The  Mt Baker Ride

  • Meet @ 7.45am at the Sumas border crossing. Parking on 2nd Ave.
  • Leave 8am and ride to Mt. Baker. Stops along the way in Glacier (approx. mid-way point)
  • Depending on the numbers it would be great to have someone ride the team van?
  • The ride itself is approx.145km in total
    • 35km from Sumas to small town of Glacier (rolling country roads).
    • and another 35km from there to summit/end of road @ top lookout.
    • last 35km climbs  (20km is up and down gradual and last 15km is steady).
    • all last 35km is in spectacular national forest with river beside much of the road.
  • Duration is roughly 5-7 hours.
  • The ride is minimal traffic  and great roads.
  • Those of who don't want/need the whole distance can consider driving to Glacier and riding up and back from there.
