We had a great turnout of 150 riders for Saturday's Glotman•Simpson  Cycling club's Cypress Hill Climb Challenge.  The competitors tacked the 13 km climb up Cypress Mountain, which roughly has a 7% grade for the entire climb. (It is not an easy climb!) A diversity of cyclists showed up, from the serious competitor to club riders, to recreational riders to support our fundraiser for pancreatic cancer research.  The good cause also brought good weather enabling us to raise just over $6,000 towards pancreatic cancer research.  The event went smoothly and we are already planning next year!!!

Now on to what everyone has been waiting for the results and photos!

Now is your chance in The Glotman•Simpson Cycling Club's ‘Cypress Challenge: Part Deux', starting at 9am on September 12th

Climbing from the bottom of Cypress Mountain to the top of Hollyburn's Cross Country area, this is the second annual Cypress Challenge, a charity cycling race with a mass start open to all riders. But be warned - the 13km route has a steady 6.5% grade, and wouldn't be out of place as a hill climb in the Tour de France.

The countdown to the  Cypress Challenge: Part Deux has started!  There's only two weeks to go before the start of the second round of this special, cancer fundraising event.

September 12th - Hold the morning open!

This fun and friendly charity event offers a mass start for all age categories, and will run from the bottom of Cypress Mountain to the top of Hollyburn's Cross-Country area, a challenging 13 km route with a steady 6.5% grade.

Pre-registration location: 1661 West 5th Ave.
6:30 - 8:30pm.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Mark your calendars, start your hill training and make plans to take part in the Cypress Challenge: Part Deux, September 12th.  This fun and friendly charity event will offer a mass start for all age categories, and will run from the bottom of Cypress Mountain to the top of Hollyburn's Cross Country area, a challenging 13 km route with a steady 6.5% grade. We will have many FANTASTIC prizes for all categories!

The 2009 edition of the Yaletown Grand Prix proofed to be again on of Vancouver's premier bike racing events. Several thousand of spectators and a great organisation rounded up a great day of racing on Canada Day 2009. The Glotman Simpson team showed a great depth of strength in all categories.

It is that time of year again. May is upon us and the skies have finally opened up producing great riding weather. Allan and Dan have decided to change the hill climb dates to Wednesday nights leaving APT at 6:00pm and then Westpoint Cycles at 6:20pm. This year they will be selling off 5 week packages at a rate of $75. Drop in will be $20. Allan and Dan are encouraging everyone do take the 5 week package route as it is easier to train you all if you are following the progression.

Schwalbe has issued a warning over a subset of Ultremo R tires. This is only a warning and does not constitute a recall. If your Ultremo tires start exhibiting bulging Schwalbe will replace the tires promptly at no charge. If your tires are affected you should see this after a short time in use. Most will not be affected. See the PDF (attached at the bottom) for more details.
