We had a great turnout of 150 riders for Saturday's Glotman•Simpson  Cycling club's Cypress Hill Climb Challenge.  The competitors tacked the 13 km climb up Cypress Mountain, which roughly has a 7% grade for the entire climb. (It is not an easy climb!) A diversity of cyclists showed up, from the serious competitor to club riders, to recreational riders to support our fundraiser for pancreatic cancer research.  The good cause also brought good weather enabling us to raise just over $6,000 towards pancreatic cancer research.  The event went smoothly and we are already planning next year!!!

Now on to what everyone has been waiting for the results and photos!

Now is your chance in The Glotman•Simpson Cycling Club's ‘Cypress Challenge: Part Deux', starting at 9am on September 12th

Climbing from the bottom of Cypress Mountain to the top of Hollyburn's Cross Country area, this is the second annual Cypress Challenge, a charity cycling race with a mass start open to all riders. But be warned - the 13km route has a steady 6.5% grade, and wouldn't be out of place as a hill climb in the Tour de France.

The countdown to the  Cypress Challenge: Part Deux has started!  There's only two weeks to go before the start of the second round of this special, cancer fundraising event.

September 12th - Hold the morning open!

This fun and friendly charity event offers a mass start for all age categories, and will run from the bottom of Cypress Mountain to the top of Hollyburn's Cross-Country area, a challenging 13 km route with a steady 6.5% grade.

Pre-registration location: 1661 West 5th Ave.
6:30 - 8:30pm.

August 16th, 2009

Today, the 2009 BC Provincial Road Championships were held in Abbortsford. The Glotman Simpson Cycling Team started in all categories (except Junior Men) and ended on the podium in 3 of them.

Stephanie hard work and early attacks paid off as she won the field sprint with ease!

he last BC Cup of the season was held in Sidney, BC. Another fast criterium under Twilight settings ended up being very successful for the Glotman Simpson Team. The women's race was dominated by our team. Stephanie Ossenbrink attacked early throughout the race but a technical error brought her back into the peloton. Marie-Claude Gagnon, Karen Watson and Leslie Vice managed to keep the following attackes under control and made sure that Stephanie as the sprinter on the team was positioned  perfectlyin the last laps. Stephanie won the field sprint with ease!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Mark your calendars, start your hill training and make plans to take part in the Cypress Challenge: Part Deux, September 12th.  This fun and friendly charity event will offer a mass start for all age categories, and will run from the bottom of Cypress Mountain to the top of Hollyburn's Cross Country area, a challenging 13 km route with a steady 6.5% grade. We will have many FANTASTIC prizes for all categories!

The 2009 edition of the Yaletown Grand Prix proofed to be again on of Vancouver's premier bike racing events. Several thousand of spectators and a great organisation rounded up a great day of racing on Canada Day 2009. The Glotman Simpson team showed a great depth of strength in all categories.

It is that time of year again. May is upon us and the skies have finally opened up producing great riding weather. Allan and Dan have decided to change the hill climb dates to Wednesday nights leaving APT at 6:00pm and then Westpoint Cycles at 6:20pm. This year they will be selling off 5 week packages at a rate of $75. Drop in will be $20. Allan and Dan are encouraging everyone do take the 5 week package route as it is easier to train you all if you are following the progression.

Moriah proved to be the favourite for the GC after she dominated the early Saturday morning Time Trial. She continued to lead the GC throughout the weekend! The Criterium on Saturday afternoon ended in a field sprint and our Glotman Simpson riders Leslie Vice and Moriah MacGregor finished 15th and 6th. For Saturdays road the goal was to protect Moriah's lead. Both girls managed to do their job and Moriah finished again in the top 5 and Leslie on spot 15.

Spring Series update by Rory:

I wanna say that Jack ,Murray and I endured the freezing cold rain today for the Rivver Road Race.

We really had no chance of doing anything except try to cover a few moves and sit in when we could.  4 guys went early after a few hard efforts on everyones part.  We brought back two and the field sprint was on for 3rd.
