an introduction to racing for women: April
Are you thinking about racing? Or is this your first season of committing to take the plunge? It’s not as intimidating as it seems. In fact, it can be a lot of fun especially when you have teammates. For any women interested to try racing, or are looking for more information on preparing for the season ahead, please join the Glotman•Simpson Women’s Race Team for our season kick-off social.
Time: Friday evening info session, Saturday and Sunday rides

No previous racing experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome. Open to club members, and non-club members who are curious about racing with Glotman•Simpson Cycling. You’ll have a chance to:
Meet current, new and prospective women racers (and future teammates).
Learn a bit more about what racing is like.
Find out how to prepare for your first race.
Look at the local race calendar and see which races might appeal to you.
Ask any other questions you might have (bikes, nutrition, pace lines – anything!)
Work on race specific drills and skills on the local Tuesday nighter courses

SEASON KICK-OFF EVENT: April 3, 2019
We're officially kicking off the season with our annual social event and AGM. We have a lot planned with Glotman•Simpson Cycling this year and encourage all club members, and those interested in joining or learning more about the club to attend.
Time: 7 - 9 pm
Location: St. Regis Hotel Bar & Grill (608 Dunsmuir Street)
Cost: FREE to attend! Food and drinks available for purchase
Our Annual General Meeting will be presented for any interested club members (prior to the official kick-off event) at 6:30 PM. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
first official group ride: APRIL 6, 2019
Release the fenders! It's the first official group ride of the season. See Rides, to familiarize yourself with meet-up time, location, route, and our tips for group riding etiquette.
Rides will follow the summer schedule, and Saturday group rides will begin at 8:30 am. Women's group rides, Wednesday, and Sunday group rides will also begin and follow the summer schedule.
SUNSHINE COAST, 1-DAY RIDE: May 31st
Sunshine enthusiasts, get ready to head to the Sunshine Coast. Join us on May 31st for a scenic one-day ride, that will be approximately 120km in distance, and see a total elevation gain of over 1600m. We recommend riders are prepared with their own food, layers for riding, and clothing between ferry rides.
Leave Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal for Langdale – Sunshine Coast on the 7:20 AM ferry. Arrive early to purchase your ticket and board.
Riders will depart Langdale terminal and ride the coast highway to Madeira Park, approximately 60km one-way.
The group will stop for lunch which will be available to purchase. Riders will return to the Langdale Ferry Terminal via the coast highway.
This is a “B” level ride with an average speed of 30km/hr
Riders should bring their own spare tubes, air cartridges, appropriate clothing, food, and water

MOUNT BAKER, 1-DAY RIDE: july 1, 2019
The annual Canada Day Mt. Baker ride will begin at the Sumas Canada / USA border at 8 AM on Saturday, July 1. The ride is approximately 145km in length, split into 36km segments. See route map. Pre-registration is required to attend this ride.
If you have any questions about this ride, or would be willing to volunteer vehicle support, please contact us.
Arrive at 7:30am. Ride leaves at 8AM from Canada at Huntington / Sumas Border.
Parking: Available on 2nd Ave & 3rd Ave. adjacent to the border. Do not park in the mall parking lots for risk of towing.
Whatever you need to ride - clothing/food/equipment/extra kit. Each rider must bring their own bag across the border. Once across you can drop off in the support vehicle.
CYPRESS CHALLENGE: August 11, 2019
On Sunday, August 11, the 11th Annual Glotman•Simpson Cypress Challenge, benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation, will harness the determination of hundreds of cyclists as they climb Cypress Mountain in support of life-saving pancreatic cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency.

Feel like getting muddy? If you're interested in racing cyclocross (CX) this year, or want to learn what riding a road bike in dirt is all about, come say hello. This is when we all get to meet one another, go over the supported race calendar, pick up pre-ordered kit and answer any questions you have.

2019 Gran Fondo Events With GS Cycling
Gran fondos provide a great opportunity to test your fitness, achieve a set goal and have a lot of fun. You can count on seeing many GSC jerseys at these popular weekend events. We'll focus on a select number of mass participation rides, with our gran fondo coordinators to provide pre-event communication, coordination with team registration, group get-togethers and support. For some, this might mean strategizing about pacelines and feed stations. For others, it could just include a reserved area at the start line. It will most definitely include a plan for post event libations. Supported gran fondo events:

ANNUAL YEAR-END CELEBRATION: november, 2019
Celebrate the end to the cycling season, in our typical fashion, of an evening filled with music, photos, food, drinks and lots of laughs.
