an introduction to racing for women: April

Are you thinking about racing? Or is this your first season of committing to take the plunge? It’s not as intimidating as it seems. In fact, it can be a lot of fun especially when you have teammates.  For any women interested to try racing, or are looking for more information on preparing for the season ahead, please join the Glotman•Simpson Women’s Race Team for our season kick-off social.

Date:  TBD
Time: Friday evening info session, Saturday and Sunday rides
Location: Vancouver (details will be provided to registrants)
Cost: $50

No previous racing experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome. Open to club members, and non-club members who are curious about racing with Glotman•Simpson Cycling. You’ll have a chance to:

  • Meet current, new and prospective women racers (and future teammates).

  • Learn a bit more about what racing is like.

  • Find out how to prepare for your first race.

  • Look at the local race calendar and see which races might appeal to you.

  • Ask any other questions you might have (bikes, nutrition, pace lines – anything!)

  • Work on race specific drills and skills on the local Tuesday nighter courses

Whatever your bike-related goals are, the team would love to meet you! If you have questions about this event, please contact Morgan.

2019 Gran Fondo Events With GS Cycling

Gran fondos provide a great opportunity to test your fitness, achieve a set goal and have a lot of fun. You can count on seeing many GSC jerseys at these popular weekend events. We'll focus on a select number of mass participation rides, with our gran fondo coordinators to provide pre-event communication, coordination with team registration, group get-togethers and support. For some, this might mean strategizing about pacelines and feed stations. For others, it could just include a reserved area at the start line. It will most definitely include a plan for post event libations. Supported gran fondo events:

Saturday night team meal in Penticton. Recreational and competitive team management. For information about the event, including planning for accommodations and carpooling, as well as how to register as part of a male, female or mixed team with your GS teammates, visit the Member Forum.
