Club Announcements

Orders are due by February 12, 2012.

ORDER ONLINE

The 2012 Glotman Simpson clothing pre order will be available soon online, with the product expected to arrive in April. New for this year, we will be ordering our clothing from Castelli.

Please note that Castelli uses Euro sizing - this means that you can expect your clothing to fit at least one size smaller than the 2011 Sugoi kit. The size chart is provided below for reference. We also have a fit kit available for the next three weeks for club members to check out the new fabrics and get a feel for the fit of the clothing.

In an ongoing effort to provide support to our club members involved in racing at all levels we have a dedicated group of Race Ambassadors representing each of the racing categories for 2012. The Race Ambassadors will be communicating directly with all racers in the given category and organizing team training sessions. For those interested in racing sanctioned events as a team the Race Ambassadors will be setting up pre race meetings for all interested riders.

Below are the contacts for all of the Race Ambassadors for 2012. Be sure to email the Race Ambassador for your given category so that you can be added to the racing email list. Include a short introduction and your racing goals for the season!

It's going to be an exciting 2012 for the GS club! Based on the popularity of the group rides last season, we will be introducing 16 Club Ambassadors to help with rides and various club events. The Group rides will again cater to Racers (A group), Enthusiast Riders (B + and B group), and Recreational Riders (C and novice/junior). We will be introducing a North Shore ride leaving from West Vancouver's Different Bikes location. This will be a special event held once a month, stay tuned for details.

Other special club ride events are (tentatively) scheduled as follows:

Flanders, the Flemish region of Belgium is infamous for serving up the harshest cycling conditions- where driving rain, cobbled non-category climbs, snow and ice are the norm for its 6,000 racing clubs. This place, the pounding heart of a passionate cycling nation where the most revered Spring Classics unfold, is the cold steel anvil where flesh and bone are forged into the greatest racers of all time. This is Belgium, home to Ridley Bikes, and it is here where our products are engineered, hammered into raw form by the roads themselves, and where we refine them in competition.

This is Ridley. We are Belgium.

All of us at Different Bikes love riding bikes. We ride for fun, fitness, competition, freedom, transportation, adrenaline and exploration. We enjoy sharing that passion with people and encouraging everyone to RIDE MORE!

Each year Glotman Simpson Cycling grows and grows and with that comes more responsibility for us to ensure we are meeting the needs of your club.  Last year we had a great response rate to our survey and it helped the Board to deliver new initiatives, ensuring that they meet the expectations of our Membership.

Please take a moment to fill out our 2011 survey, it is 100% anonymous and you have the chance to win a FREE 2012 membership.

It's no mystery that GSC members can raise money for cancer research, in fact this year alone we have raised $125,000 with help from all of you.  That is huge and something to be very proud of.

For the month of November...err Movember we will be doubling our efforts to also raise much needed awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer research.  Why you ask? Well, so we can avoid this.

We have some 2011 clothing left at discounted prices, specific pieces include:

Team Escape Velocity will be hosting the annual Toy Ride on Saturday, November 19, 2011 in support of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau. All cyclists, cycling clubs and teams are urged to come out and join us in support of this worthy cause.
