I have cycled most of my life, including riding across Canada (Vancouver to Ottawa) in 1971, I currently ride with a group of men and women(whom I have been riding with for the past 5 to 7 years), every Saturday and Sunday mornings and during the week in the summer. We also rode Seattle to Portland in 2006. I know Geoff Glotman from this group of friends.

Ken Phillips, owner and principle dentist for the Royal Center Dental Group, (rcDental.ca) has enjoyed riding with the Glotman Simpson Club over the last two summers and is looking forward to the numerous group rides and races that have been planned for the upcoming season.

Ken graduated from Dalhousie University Faculty of Dentistry in 1987 and moved with his wife Jane to Vancouver two years later where he built the Royal Center Dental Group in the heart of downtown Vancouver.

Ken is relatively new to cycling, having taken up the sport six years ago in order to join his wife in her interest in triathlons.  After competing in Olympic distance triathlons for 4 years, it became clear that the physical wear and tear on his body from running would not be sustainable in the long term, so he directed more energy toward biking.

When Ken met Glotman Simpson riders on the road during his training rides, he was struck by their open acceptance and enthusiasm for new riders and felt quickly connected through their common goals of rider development and social fundraising.  It therefore became a natural fit for the Royal Center Dental Group to become a sponsor and join a cause that aligned with his philosophies so perfectly.

During its 20 year history, The Royal Center Dental Group has had an interest in philanthropic causes, most specifically the support through individual sponsorship of young nationally ranked athletes.  A cause around which we are equally passionate is the fight to eradicate cancer. We have done this through our participation in the Ride to Conquer Cancer, the 24 hour Relay, The weekend to end women’s cancers, the Underwear Affair, and many Glotman Simpson fund raising events.  It was therefore a natural fit to join the Glotman Simpson sponsorship family.
