This team is for someone who is serious about long term development and racing as a team. There is no charge to join our club racing team. You have to be a registered club member and obtain a cycling BC licence. Our team/club kit is mandatory on all rides.
Club Rides
If you are looking for club rides during the winter we have a couple of them. Be prepared during the wet season, and wear proper clothing when riding in the cold/wet conditions. A proper base layer undershirt and a good winter jersey and rain/winter jacket are essential to stay warm (check out our official team clothing). As a courtesy to others behind you please mount fenders with mud extension on your bike (Contact club's official bike shop West Point Cycles if you need to purchase fenders).
If you don`t like riding during the cold and wet season outdoors you can ride indoors on a Saturday or other days during the week. Sign up for Indoor Cycling by visiting www.multisportscience.com.
Outdoor ride structure
Our A,B,C rides are leaving from the Cuppa Joes Coffee Shop (Intersection West 4th Ave/Alma) Saturdays at 8:30am (summer) or 9:00am (winter). If we have a small turnout due to bad weather we might combine groups.
The A Ride (Racers) is tapered towards experienced riders who would like to maintain a higher speed (32+ km/h avg). This ride may include some intervals with strong efforts. You should have very good bike riding skills at higher speeds to do this ride.
The B Ride (Enthusast) is a more steady ride with an average speed of 28-32 km/h. This ride will maintain a steady pace and you should have good group riding and cornering skills. This ride may include some drills designed to improve your group riding skills.
The C Ride (Recreational) is for novice riders or riders who need to gain confidence and skills. This ride will include instruction from the ride leader on cycling skills and safety. The average speed will be between 25-28 km/h.
Each ride will have a ride leader if we have a big enough turnout - do not hesitate to ask questions of the ride leader and other riders. Use your own judgment which ride you feel comfortable doing but if you are uncertain about which ride you should be doing please ask a ride leader or team rider.
Our goal is to take care of everyone on our group rides (regardless of your ability and experience) and have fun!
